EV is the easiest setting to shove shit into: the AU
[She'd arrived in time for the sandstorm that had taken over the city the previous weak and gotten enough of a rundown to understand what was going on. Of course it was a huge relief when the sand had passed enough to let them out of that dumb cavern and back into the streets, but now there were monsters all over the place. The worst part was that she didn't have her own pets to fight in her place. Not even Dumbo Decus was around to deal with this.
It's how she found herself surrounded by various creatures. Spiders, flame vampires, and even a couple of undead left over from the week before. It wasn't that she was lacking in skill-- the way she swung a toy rapier around and was able to deal such damage showed enough of her power-- but the fact that there were so many that was causing her trouble.
Frowning as a ball of fire shot out causes her to stumble backwards, she grips her weapon tighter and spins to point at the group, icicles raining down from above them. It took care of a couple, but it seemed only more and more kept coming.
Scowling, she took a step back, wondering how to handle this.]

In the end, the "struggling" wins him over. He draws his knives and sends them flying, hitting and killing two spiders simultaneously. It's only a moment before they start flying again, a quick tug pulling them back, a flick and a snap to send them piercing through two flame vampires. More follow in a similar manner, with Baroona exerting less than minimal effort, almost looking casual as he manipulates the cord.
Soon, the numbers have been lowered–only two-thirds to a half remain. Enough to allow him to step closer to-wow, okay-the small girl in the center.]
Are you alright?

Whoever this person is... they seem strong. And she's smarter than to shove someone away for the sake of pride when she could have a strong ally. Especially when she's so lacking in that in this place.]
I'm fine, thanks to you. ♥ [It's playful and light, and she's seeming a little more confident about the situation now as she straightens herself. Another flick of her rapier at the remaining monsters grants a whirlwind that slices up some of the monsters.
But even with her statement like that, she's tossing him a curious, defensive sort of look.]
Just who are you?
no subject
No one, really.
[Looking back to the whirlwind. Most of the monsters are caught up in it now. Nothing to worry about anymore.] If you were capable of something like that why were you getting swarmed?
no subject
[He can clearly survive. The whirlwind is likely enough for now, but she still brings her toy rapier horizontal before her to concentrate on another spell.
The question is annoying. Like an attack on her strength. But she can be calm enough to answer it.]
These stupid things weren't giving me even the smallest break! How was I supposed to concentrate on my magic with them jumping at me like that? [A flick, and another rain of icicles stabs the last of the foes, finishing them off. She giggles, clearly satisfied, and turns to give Baroona her full attention.]
Why'd you help me?
no subject
I thought you needed it.
[Behind her, the last icicle slams to the ground, pinning a spiders corpse to it.] I think I was wrong.
[Although, thinking back on how long it took her to cast that spell right now–maybe not. Glancing back down at her, he takes the time to study her rapier. It's a toy, but it should be sharp enough to at least do some damage.]
Why didn't you use that-[he points at it lazily]–to fend them off?
no subject
[She smiles, bringing the rapier up in front of herself to bend it playfully. Because he thought she needed it, huh? Good enough. So he was a good person... maybe. Maybe she could use that? Or it would come in handy?
She was still thinking things through.
Either way, the question earns a short, fake sounding giggle.]
It's oh so much trouble to do all that hard work myself. Of course I'd have resorted to that if it came down to it, but my magic is my strong point. [Why stray from that?
She releases the bend of the toy in an instant, letting it wobble a bit before lowering both arms to her sides.]
You saved me from having to do all the dirty work myself. I'll be sure to remember that the next time we meet. [Another giggle SHE GIGGLES A LOT] Can't I at least get a name?
SHITTY TAG I'M SORRY
She giggles too much.
Baroona sighs, placing one hand on his hip.]
Baroona.
NO IT'S FINE
[Treasure this moment for it's the only time she shall say his full name.]
I'm Alice of the Vanguard. I'm just trying to make my way back to the dorms. Where are you headed?
no subject
[He has a feeling what she's going to ask next but he'll wait for her to say it. Moves on to other matters in the meantime.]
Is that your full name? [It'd be pretty stupid if it was, but he doesn't know what to expect in this place. Seriously, what type of name is Zelos?? Or North?? That was a direction, not a name.]
no subject
[She retorts just as easily. Flipping her hair a bit, she steps forward and looks down the street.]
I don't have a last name. Now then, Roonie, shall we head there together? You wouldn't want to leave a poor little girl like me alone, now would you?
no subject
There was only so many ways to react to nicknames. Baroona uses the best one.
He walks past her without replying.]
