LET'S GO TO THE ZOO YEAH!!
[Mikoto had said it was a surprise and Baroona had walked halfway across the City, so it had better been a good one. So far he was unimpressed. The middle of (sort of) Central Park wasn't exactly anything he hadn't seen before. Trees. Grass. Park things. All old hat to him. What was Mikoto planning on surprising him with? A bouquet?
(He hoped not.)
Not to mention she was late. Again. As always. It didn't really bother him so much as the tension of her "surprise" did. After repeated "surprises" with Tom, he had grown somewhat wary of the word. Still, he doubted Mikoto would drug him into a car which makes settling down on a bench to wait for her all the more easier. When she finally arrives, he'll have his head tilted up, watching the birds in the tree above him.]

Still, it was worth it...or so she hoped. After seeing how charmed and intrigued he looked during their impromptu zoology lesson at the Mu Mu Haus last time, Mikoto decided it was high time to take him to the zoo.
Especially when she factored his confusion over elephants and giraffes into the equation (and besides, she really wanted to show him panthers).
She cranes in front of him the moment she's within distance.]
Please tell me birds exist in your world.

Don't be stupid.
[Raises up a hand to (gently) shove her head out of the way.]
You're blocking them.
[Although there's not much to see anymore. The birds must have left upon Mikoto's late arrival. He sighs and raises his head, giving her a weak glare.] You're late.

I'm just making sure.
[She straightens thereafter, putting her hands on her hips. Well, excuse her, princess.]
What? There was a lot of traffic. Just be glad I didn't drag your butt onto that bus.
[inb4 'was it your boyfriend again?' Mikoto's exasperated look shifts into a grin.]
Or was the suspense killing you? [She walks past and around the bench, beckoning him to get up.] C'mon, silly. You're gonna see more than just birds.

[The fact that you're a girl doesn't matter. Yeah, go gender equality!
It takes him a proper stretch of his legs and shoulders before he gets up, eyeing her suspiciously.]
What are you talking about?
[He's seeing more than "just birds" right now, isn't he? There's trees and stuff too. Plenty of things that aren't "just birds". He squints at her.]

[Mikoto grins impishly. Pfft, well, in that case, she doesn't have to fight fair!
She turns on her heel, folding her hands behind her back innocently and holding her head up in the air primly.]
I don't wanna spoil it. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if I gave it away this soon. Just follow me.
[As they walk further onward, there seem to be more and more children around, interestingly (or suspiciously) enough.]

You're not taking me to a daycare, are you?
[Not that he'd really mind that, but it'd remind him too much of Clara and he doesn't really feel like kicking around that shred of guilt today.]
Wouldn't you be too violent to allow in anyway?

Mikoto turns pink. She was improving, however.]
And you'd barely fit inside a daycare, so there's that.
[A few more paces, and the sound of an elephant bellowing can be heard. Mikoto starts giggling a little, until they're in front of a wrought-iron entryway with a sign that reads, "Central Park Zoo."
She turns toward Baroona.]
I told you I'd look into going to the zoo last time, remember?
