woah what a boona log without mer chaos

[Blades slice through the air with a whistle and get batted away easily. disappointing but still effective. The dog was catching on. In a way, that made it more fun. With a faint grin, Baroona follows up, darting under the glaive as it knocks the other blade away–his free hand snaps the cord back so the knife will return. With his other blade he stabs deep into the jackal's thigh and slices out. Tear some ligaments, muscles, something. By the way the creature howls and falters, it seems to have worked.

A snarl forewarns him–he looks up, the other side of the glaive comes down. Baroona leans back just in time. The blade enters his thigh–an eye for an eye–where it would've met his back. Fatal blow avoided, but he still barks in pain as the end is pulled out. It starts to swing down again; Baroona doesn't wait to move. Pushing off his back leg, he shoves the jackal to the ground in a tackle, wrestling and cutting with it until–with a knife buried in its throat–it stops moving.

With a heavy sigh, Baroona sits up straight, wiping the sweat from his brow and fixing the cloth around his face. On the corpse's armor, he wipes his knives clean, draping the cord around his neck as he pushes off its body to stand...

And promptly falls over into the sand. Great.

Frowning, he tries again; fails again. He keeps it up, if only because falling helps him close the distance between himself and the well nearby.]

[Baroona breathes out a soft laugh, straightening himself and looking back to their food. Turning the spit.]

Is that so. [a pause. He takes a moment to lean closer to the fish to inspect their color before returning to his normal position, faking a thoughtful look at his own feet.] But my feet have been planted to the ground this whole time.

[Smirking, but not allowing Zelos the chance to see it.] Maybe the Great Zelos Wilder–[it sounds so mocking when he says it in that dry tone.]–is losing his charm.

[There's a moment where Zelos looks insulted-- right before his face twists into more of a cocky smirk.]

Wow, talk about cold!

[Again with the hand gestures. This time is a big different though...]

I'm thinking that fire's not quite doing its job. Am I gonna have to warm things up? [He lets that sink in for just a moment before his fingers snap and a small flame appears in the palm of his hand and fades just as quickly.]

[Baroona side-eyes the flame warily, leaning away from Zelos before moving back to the fish.]

Only if you don't want to eat.

[To give his threat merit, he tears a small chunk of perfectly cooked meat off Zelos' fish and pops it into his mouth.]

What? Hey, hey, hey, come on, now!

[While he doesn't have to actually eat, tasting is still something he can do-- and fish happens to be a favorite. So he doesn't mind playing around in this way, stumbling to his feet and shrugging his arms with over zealous grabby fingers in gesture.]

We have those fish thanks to me! You can't hog it all to yourself!

[Baroona lightly hops to his feet, practically dancing a step or two away as he smugly pops another chunk of Zelos' fish into his mouth. IdK how he can be smug with a pretty neutral expression, but he manages. His own brand of magic, maybe.]

[Oh no he doesn't. Taking that as an invitation for a fight (a play fight, but a fight nonetheless), he lets a more irritated expression take over his face as he circles around the fire and then takes a few larger steps towards Baroona, swiping clumsily in an attempt to grab some fish.

He's giving a little slack in his usual ease of movement, but after a few missing swipes (if they miss) he'll outright reach around the guy to grab at that fish. Hello personal space yolo.]

[Baroona dances around the swipes with ease but the grab is harder to dodge. Caught midstep, he reals back a step or two before catching himself, holding the fish as far above him as he can manage while shoving at Zelos' face.]

You're cheating again.

[He's pretending to protest, but there's a clear quirk to his lips that shows he doesn't mind.]

[Zelos' face is turned away thanks to the shoving, but he doesn't let up on the grabbing for the fish at all, either. In between laughs that he doesn't bother to hide, that is.]

Like I said before, there aren't any rules! Now give some over before I roast you! [Not that he would, if his little jump-grab at the higher fish from behind (even in their grip) is anything to go by.]

[With an exasperated sigh, Baroona tips his head back.] Fine, fine.

[Making a show and lowering the fish just enough...

For him to break off a small piece and drop it onto Zelos' face. Good news: if his mouth is open–it'll go in! If not... Well. That's not Baroona's fault.]

Haha--

[And then fish just missing his mouth by hitting his lip, bouncing off... And he's reaching to catch it, because like hell he's going to waste some perfectly good fish!

He does manage to catch it in a closed fist, but his weight leans forward so much that it's likely enough to send them both to the ground.]

Whoa--! [And a surprised blink as he raises his closed hand higher to protect the captured piece of fish.] That's not how I meant, you ass!

[Baroona's eyes fly open in surprise while his feet fly out from underneath him. He lands with a grunt and a wince, squinting up at Zelos.]

I'm doing you a favor. [Raps a knuckle against Zelos' side.] As if you needed any more weight.

[The good news is that unless Zelos wants to completely crawl on top of him, the fish is still pretty out of reach.]

[He pulls a face at that comment, shifting slightly so he can pop his own piece of fish into his mouth, freeing up his hand again. Rude Baroona. He won't comment on the weight comment aside from that, though, and instead shifts so one palm rests against the floor in a half-pin to keep Baroona in place, face just inches from his.]

But, hey... [...] I swept you off your feet just now, didn't I?

[WINKS FOR EFFECT. But then he's ruining any half thought that it may have been some sort of corny smoothness by laughing obnoxiously, crawling up a bit more and grabbing for that fish with all his might.]

[Flatly:] That doesn't count.

[oH GOd YOU WINKEd AT HIM TOO THAT'S JUST SO CHEESY. Ugh, he wishes he could stretch his arm further away but, no, Zelos. The fish is yours. Baroona scowls when the stick leaves his grasp, already thinking up ways to get it back.]

Scooooooooore!

[Snatching it, thank you. It's only then that he relents, pulling himself off Baroona and then laughing in his victory.]

Anyway, what are you talking about? That totally counted. [Matter-of-factly. After that, he doesn't see any problem shifting to just... take a big bite out of the fish. What is this pansy tearing shit Baroona was doing no man he is biting off a section thanks.]

I got knocked over by your weight, not your charm. [Free from Zelos ~~muscle~~ fat, he props himself up, flinching away only when Zelos... spits scales at him. Really???] Hey.

[Okay. No. Another scale bounces off his forehead–this time with added sound effects, and, to be honest, that's what moves him to action. The obnoxious bibibibibi Zelos is making. With a dark smirk, he pushes his weight and crashes into Zelos' legs, toppling him over. Ignoring the stick (which is within reach) for the moment, he straddles Zelos' legs, pinning them down, and smirks.

So.
Smug.]

Looks like I swept you off your feet.

[Zelos was having way too much fun with his sound effects and his scale-gun there. So the sudden weight at his legs gets a choke that splutters out the rest of the scales as he falls over.

Immediately he's holding the fish out of reach again and pulling an irritated look.]

Who has the right to be talking about weight here?! [As if Baroona is fat sure] Anyway, I'm more of a 'wait for the second date' kind of guy...

Oh? [With a slow rotation of his hips he slides a bit higher, curving his back as he leans down, face inches from Zelos' own. He smirks, but it's unclear if he means it, expression imperceptible as he practically purrs out:] After I cooked you dinner and everything.

[Another arch forward, chest pressing against Zelos', while his arms slide above his head.

And... conveniently wrap around the stick that he then (attempts) to pull out of Zelos' hands as he sits back up.]

[what the fuck you were supposed to be the one that was surprised??? AT THE VERY LEAST HE DIDN'T EXPECT THIS MUCH RUNNING WITH IT--]

[And goodbye fish.

There's a brief moment of quiet surprise when Baroona moves to sit up, but it's recovered from quickly enough with a determined (and rightfully challenging) glare.]

You're not gonna eat and run, are ya? [Spoken as he grabs at Baroona's legs that are straddled over his own, shifting to sit up himself. It makes the position a bit awkward, but he has him in place--!]

[A quick blink of surprise–Baroona wasn't expecting to be matched–that he recovers quickly from, shifting slowly into the new position. Working his hips, the curve of his back–using every motion he can to gradually slide the fish off the stick. Holding it by the tailfin, he stabs the rest of the stick into the ground beside them, tearing off a chunk, never once breaking eye contact.]

Not if the invitation's open. [A beat. Another shift.] Open your mouth.

[His voice is a silky purr but his eyes are alight with a dare. He moves his free hand with a roll of a shoulder and a push of the chest to wrap around Zelos' neck, fingers toying idly with his hair. His other hand places the chunk of fish between his teeth, falling to his side as he leans down and meets his mouth without touching it, using his tongue to push the chunk of meat in.]

[This guy. Still going? Zelos isn't the type to think about the line between messing around and going somewhere with stuff like this (because what does it matter?), so his reaction in this case isn't too blown away. It's just a blink before his smirk twists into something darker himself.]

You're a little shit, you know that?

[Just getting that out there. Stop trying to beat him! He doesn't just open his mouth to take the fish, but closes it over Baroona's tongue with a playful bite to pull back and eat the fish before raising a hand from Baroona's leg to shove lightly at his chest. Get off you loser.]

Taste like it too.

[Just like that, he switches back to normal, allowing himself to roll off Zelos, laughing.]

Still win.

[Rolling to his feet, he waggles the untouched fish between his fingers, tossing Zelos his own–mostly eaten–one.] I'm taking my prize.

[Already biting into it at the tail-end of the sentence; he turns around, walking back to where his weapons are and sliding down in front of them.]

Oh, shut up. I just don't wanna have to deal with you sitting on me anymore.

[His tone is super butthurt, but it's a clear Zelos-specific sign that he's having fun, to be messing around like this. He gives an over the top sigh as he catches that mostly-eaten fish, staring incredulously as Baroona takes an uneaten one and leaves like that. Wow.

Standing up, Zelos steps over towards the fire and shoves the back of Baroona's head forward in a playful gesture before stepping around the fire to sit by his own things.]

[The shoving of his head makes him bite the inside of his cheek. He rubs at it while scowling at Zelos, picking up a small pebble with his free hand, tossing it at Zelos' leg.]

That's no way to thank someone for a free meal.

[Reaching down and catching that pebble like the show off he is.]

Free? You're kidding, right? I'm the one who had to catch that meal!
